Basically I am trying to keep this unit functional, ultimately I would like to have a hydraulic power unit that I can stick in the bed of my truck and use anywhere I need fluid power. So I am trying to remove only things that are specific to the floor scrubbing process at this point. This is what it looked like in the area, after I removed the tanks. It had a tank for clean water and detergent and a tank for the water it sucked up off the floor as it scrubbed. I found out that the soap tank wasn't empty, as I had been lead to believe it would have to be. It was real heavy to lift out, (and it didn't help with my back being what it is, shot!) So I ended up draining it into a barrel, and found it had yet another, hose attached, (green circle) that wasn't visible, until it had been partially removed. Anyway the large sprocket (in the yellow circle) is the "steer able wheel" under the rear of the unit allowing it to stay close to things ,hug walls and such, as it did it's job.
It had a hydraulic cylinder (the red circle) that controlled cables underneath that raised and lowered the rear "water suctioning" portion of the operation. I have removed that and added it to the "shelf of hydraulic cylinders" in the machine shed... I like to be able to say that. HA!
And yes that is my favorite tool laying in the lower left quadrant of the picture. My happy little three pounder.
Okay in this mess, The green circle is the steer able rear wheel, the yellow outline is the housing that shielded the rotating brush (blue circle) above the( red outlined) tray of junk it swept up, before I got it. Above that, is the "cleaning solution tank" that had the liquid you can see in the drum in the left lower corner of the picture.
And yes it is a mess, but I cleaned it all up before I came in for the night, and covered everything. I tossed all the removed parts in the back of the truck. And many of them will be going to the junk yard soon. But, each part has something worth saving, for a future project, it seems.
This is a picture of the Ford 1300CC engine and its "liquid propane" fuel system. It is a complete unit, and hopefully I can preserve it's integrity, as I remove the rest of the sweeper from it.
Here is the hydraulic pump attached to the little Ford engine. It is substantial, and above it, is the hydraulic reservoir. Quite a nice compact unit.
And because you are an interested person, I'll show you the tank Russell brought down, can you imagine what this tank must have cost new? It is Fiberglass with plumbing and lift links and holds 1500 gallons of whatever you want, and they were throwing it away. Actually they would have had to pay someone to take it. The world is a crazy place. And as soon as I get a backhoe running it will be the collector for the water for the Lodge. That place is going to be more fun than the big house.
